SyncFolder — Desktop User Guide

SyncFolder Mobile Sync

This location type connects to a device on your local network running the SyncFolder Android app, with its Mobile Sync server started. That server presents the device's shared folders to the Windows app over the network. After selecting this type from the dropdown and clicking Select drive/folder, a popup opens to find and connect to the device.

Finding and Connecting to a Device

  1. SyncFolder searches the local network for devices that support SyncFolder Mobile Sync — i.e. devices running SyncFolder Android with the Mobile Sync server started.
  2. Choose the desired device from the list of devices found.
  3. Enter the password configured for Mobile Sync on that device.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. SyncFolder shows the device's folder structure. Browse the folder tree and select the desired folder, then confirm the selection.

Make sure both the Windows PC and the mobile device are on the same local network, and that the SyncFolder Android app's Mobile Sync server is running, before opening the popup — otherwise the device will not appear in the list.

The Mobile Sync password is configured on the device itself, in the SyncFolder Android app's Mobile Sync settings — not on the Windows side.

Changing the Connection Later

You can connect to a different device or choose a different folder at any time by clicking Select drive/folder again. If the device is still reachable and the previously entered password is still correct, the popup opens directly to the folder picker.
