SyncFolder — Desktop User Guide

Phone, Tablet or Other Mobile Device

This location type connects to phones, tablets, digital cameras, and other devices that communicate with Windows over the MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) — typically Android devices connected via USB. After selecting this type from the dropdown and clicking Select drive/folder, a popup opens to let you choose the device and folder.

Selecting the Device and Folder

The popup lists all USB-connected devices that support the MTP protocol. Select the device, then browse its folder structure to choose the folder to use:

  1. The popup shows all connected USB devices that support MTP. Choose the device you want to use.
  2. The root folders of the device appear. Click a folder to show its subfolders and continue navigating.
  3. Once you've found the folder you want, click Select folder to confirm.

Make sure the device is connected via USB, unlocked, and set to allow file transfer before opening the popup — otherwise it will not appear in the device list.

Not all devices expose every folder over MTP. If a folder you expect to see is missing, check the device's USB connection mode (it should be set to "File Transfer" or "MTP", not "Charging only").

Changing the Folder Later

You can choose a different device or folder at any time by clicking Select drive/folder again. The popup opens directly to the device and folder picker, ready for a new selection.
